Make Your Own Seasoning Blends - Creole Seasoning
#4 in the Make Your Own Seasoning Blends series is the Cajun flavor of Creole seasoning.

mason jar and some shiny gold and green Mardi Gras beads.
As I was gathering ingredients to make tonight's supper I was dismayed (does anyone really say "dismayed" in real life?) to find out I was totally out of creole seasoning. No worries - I just whipped out my measuring spoons and the following spices:
5
Tablespoons Paprika
2
Tablespoons Onion Powder
2
Tablespoons Garlic Powder
2
Tablespoons Oregano
2
Tablespoons Basil
1 Tablespoon
Thyme
1 Tablespoon
Black Pepper
1/2
Tablespoon Cayenne
2 Tablespoons Salt
When making the video for this spice blend, I noticed I didn't have much paprika on hand, so cut the recipe in half. This is real life folks! lol
Yes, I use the word dismayed!!!! I have never tried Creole seasoning before. What meats would it go with? I have a pork roast in the freezer, I wonder if this would be a good way to try it! Maybe make pulled pork. I like the combination of spices :)
"Dismayed" is the word of the day then! lol Creole seasoning will go great with any meat you want to try it with...poultry, beef, pork and even fish. I don't think I'd use it as a 'rub' as it might be overpowering, but definitely season the pork roast with some after it has been pulled. Thank you so much for stopping by!
Thanks! I want to try this instead of buying the premixed stuff.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting mizdeb! I used some in tonight's supper and to me it tastes even better - since I didn't have to give up any extra money. lol
